Random dog post.

How cute are these doxies?!? I so want one... or two... or three...

And those little doggie parkas and scarves? Adorable -- and they're color coordinated to the pups too!

I'm blushing!

There are several blogs that I make sure to visit every day. Ermie is one of my first daily stops. Jennifer is very creative and has a great eye; her photos and writing let me feel the sunshine of California even in the middle of a New York winter. So I can't tell you how thrilled I was when I clicked over to Ermie this morning and saw two of my photos at the top of the page! Jennifer did a feature about the burgeoning trend of cord necklaces and was kind enough to include my soon-to-be-released pieces. It was an even bigger honor when I saw what talented company I had in the post: Jenny Gordy of Wiksten, Kate Miss of For Me, For You, and Stephanie Renee of Dores. If you aren't yet familiar with these ladies I highly recommend clicking through and visiting their sites... you won't be disappointed.

Thanks again, Jennifer, for including me and for all your words of encouragement! I'm really getting excited about this project, though a bit nervous about finally taking the leap into selling my work.

Works in progress.

I've been a busy little bee this past week. My new jewelry designs will be ready very soon. I hope you'll be as enthusiastic about them as I am! (As with all the photos on my blog, you can click on any image to see the detail.)

House bound.

(2/18/10: I've repaired the link to Lonny... sorry for any trouble!)

Well, the snow did arrive in full force. I did manage to get to the knitting, reading, and DVD watching, but the cupcaking will most likely have to wait for another day, though I did scarf down a good part of the Nutella I bought specifically to frost them.

Having no choice but to stay home for the day is a nice treat every once in a while, but I'm not looking forward to digging my car out to get to work in the morning. I think I'll avoid thinking about that prospect for a while longer... a great distraction and treat will be poring over the "pages" of the newest issue of Lonny magazine, which luckily enough for me was released today. I hope that one day the founders of the magazine will find the financing to offer a print edition. I know that the reader base is expanding with every issue.

This cozy nook would be the perfect spot to spend a day watching the snow fall.

The cutest accessory and ideal housemate.

This is my jewelry storage dream *sigh*

Snow day.

The snowstorm that blasted the east coast last weekend missed us on Long Island by a few miles--literally. The radar maps the TV meteorologists kept showing had the northern edge of the storm just a two to three miles off of the southern shore of the island. Where I live, south of the Long Island Expressway (aka the LIE) we had about 1/4 of an inch before it was all over. On the other hand my father, who lives just north of the LIE didn't get one snowflake. Pretty impressive, especially when you consider that the distance from the North to South Shores is only 23 miles at the island's widest point.

We also managed to come out unscathed from a storm that hit the east coast in January, but I guess you can only dodge the bullet for so long... we are expecting a strong storm to arrive late tonight, with 12-16 inches of snow and winds up to 45 MPH. The forecast calls for near blizzard conditions. Many schools and businesses have announced preemptive closings and I'm sure many more will have joined the list by morning.

Since I'm going to have an involuntary day off, I'm planning to enjoy being housebound. On the itinerary are baking, DVD watching, knitting, reading... fingers crossed that we don't lose power, or knitting and reading will be the only things left on the list (other than wearing as many layers as humanly possible to keep warm).
